Chauvet fixtures lit the WaterFire public art installation in Kansas City, an event that combined water, light and music. In its sixth year, WaterFire featured a fire sculpture of 55 floating braziers on Brush Creek, which set the stage for live performances of jazz and blues, opera and chamber music, ballet and acrobatic dancers. Chauvet dealer S.E.C.T. provided the sound and lighting systems for the six performing arts stages that included: the main stage, three smaller stages and a gondola venue that ran along Brush Creek. Ten CHAUVET® Professional COLORado™ Batten 72 Tour linear wash lights and five CHAUVET® DJ SlimPAR™ Pro Tri fixtures lit the stages, while two CHAUVET® DJ SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA wash lights and one CHAUVET® DJ Freedom™ Par wireless wash fixture lit the gondola. Jason Hadjoglou, owner of Ages Events, had the pleasure of lighting — what some might consider to be the most enjoyable gig of the year — the final audition for the New York Jets Flight Crew cheerleading squad. The audition, which took place in the team’s locker room, used four CHAUVET® DJ SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA wash lights, two Q-Spot™ 260-LED moving heads and two LED Followspot 75 spotlights to light the anxious candidates.

CHAUVET® was a gold sponsor for the yearly fund-raiser organized by Community Habilitation Center, a facility that supports and serves 150 adults with developmental disabilities from Miami-Dade County, ranging in ages from 21 to 71. This year’s theme was CHC at the Grammys. CHC members participated in a fashion show, and guests bid in live auctions, raising funds for the center. CHAUVET® Professional WELL™ wireless wash lights lit the stage and washed the walls of the room. CHAUVET® Professional COLORado™ 1 VW Tour wash lights, CHAUVET® DJ SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA fixtures and Intimidator™ Spot LED 150 moving yokes lit the stage and catwalk from pipe truss. Forty-six CHAUVET® DJ fixtures color the interior of Studio 743, a historical landmark in South Beach that hosts parties, weddings, receptions and more. Eighteen PiXPar™ 12 PAR-style wash lights bathe in color the walls of the venue and 28 SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA fixtures add more dimension to the place, installed throughout the ceiling from truss. HMS, Inc. of Miami provided the lights and completed the installation.
Luxe Productions created this magnificent uplighting display for a wedding held at Martin Estate in Rockford, Ill. Nearly 150 guests attended the elaborate celebration lit by 26 CHAUVET® DJ fixtures. Fifteen SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA wash lights uplit the reception room, DJ area and dance floor, while five more lit the trees surrounding the venue. For additional effects, four LED Pinspot™ fixtures highlighted the plant arrangements and two Vue™ 2.1 effect lights created movement on the dance floor.
CHAUVET® Business Development Manager for Latin America Paula Ortiz recently attended the 35th anniversary celebration of CHAUVET® distributor Instrumentos Musicales La Voz. The 300 guests were entertained with cocktails, dancing acts, performances by local bands all unfolding under CHAUVET®’s bright lights. CHAUVET® CEO Albert Chauvet congratulated La Voz co-founders and employees in a video presentation displayed during the celebration. General Manager Pablo Sanchez, son of co-founder Carlos Sanchez, talked about the history of the company and showed photos, as well as interviews with the co-founders, first employees and current employees. The two stages built for the anniversary featured mostly CHAUVET® products, like Intimidator™ Spot LED 350 moving lights, COLORpalette™ LED bank systems, SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA wash lights, Q-Spot™ 250 LED and Legend™ 300E Beam moving yokes.

Sound & Lighting Solutions (SLS) moved to a new Fort Lauderdale location with more space and a showroom dedicated to CHAUVET® fixtures. The highly anticipated open house, which turned out to be a mobile DJ and club installers dream, gave attendees the chance to get hands-on with the latest CHAUVET® lighting gear and atmospheric products. During the event, Jay Krause, owner of SLS, walked attendees around the showroom and gave live demos.
Beams from Mega Trix™ flooded the main showroom as gobos from Q-Spot™ 560-LED spanned the walls and ceiling. SlimPAR™ PRO RGBA wash lights and the 100% TRUE wireless Freedom™ series saturated the room with blue and red hues. Krause gave a live demo of the powerful Nimbus™ dry-ice machine in the CHAUVET® showroom as Intimidator™ scanners and movers, Rotosphere™ LED, Cubix™, Orb™, Scorpion™ lasers, and numerous other fixtures created a light show.
“This is our eighth year in business and we needed a more spacious showroom for all our architectural and DJ products, Krause said. “CHAUVET® offers the best products and has the most versatile product line — there is a full spectrum DJ and Pro products at my disposal for any type of application and installation.”
In the back of the building, a crowd of lighting enthusiasts gathered outside for a wash light demo. The lineup included PiXPar™ 12, PiXPar™ 24, COLORado™ 1 IP, Legend™ 412 VW, Q-Wash™ 560Z-LED, WELL™, SlimPAR™ Pro Tri, SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA and COLORado™ Batten 144 Tour. One open house attendee, Sean Paul Powell, found the performance of Q-Wash™ 560Z-LED particularly impressive.
“The Q-Wash™ 560Z-LED is a very impressive light,” Powell said. “I can wash a stage or open the beam and double its size. I’m buying two!”
